I originally called Batten's Plantscapes after seeing their ad in the local newspaper.
I wasn't looking for the usual landscaper, but someone who could help me figure out the
next step for the garden I'd been working on alone for many years, with mixed results. It
needed an overhaul in most areas.
I really wanted to be able to talk with someone who would work with me, combining my
tastes in gardening with his expertise in plants, as well as his muscle power. Bill has
provided everything we had hoped for; knowledgeable, approachable, reliable, hard
working, and pleasant to work with. He has helped us transform our garden landscape in
a way we would not have been able to do without his expertise and hard work.
I have recommended him to my neighbors without hesitation. It will be wonderful to see
how the new plantings grow this season. We consider it all a work in progress and look
forward to having Bill's help around here for a long time.

I was so lucky to have found Bill. I have been gardening for 20 years at our home in
Harvard. I was always ambitious but unfortunately, also haphazard in my approach.
Each round of landscaping left me with more flower beds that needed filling. I'd stop at a
garden center whenever I passed one and pick out things that I liked, put them in the bare
spots and hope for the best. I have little sense of color and arrangement, and although I
had some showy moments, they were always the result of serendipity.
Since Bill came on the scene two years ago, the plants have found their rightful places and
begun spreading gracefully. I still buy a few plants that strike my fancy, but I keep my
plantings to the areas next to the woods and let Bill decide where to put them. It's
beginning to look as if I really designed this landscape. I just wish I'd had Bill when I
started!
